The Building is large and old, a sign hangs from a post by the door,
"The Crossroads Inn." Below the lettering is an image of a black cat
with a cheshire-like grin.
Beyond the oak door is a simple cloak room with the sign, "Please
leave your coats, cloaks, guns, talismans of mass destruction, etc.
here." In fine print is added, "The management takes no
responsibility for lost or damaged items."
Once inside the cloak room a large gathering room is present. There
are several tables and chairs about, and a gas fire blazes from the
fireplace.
The bar downstairs is a semi circle. Inside the bar stands a woman with elabourately dyed hair and a warm welcoming smile. Behind her is an elaborate wood work display of a pair of
dwarves, a knight on a lion, a gypsy, and a man with a staff, in studded
leather armor, facing off against a dragon. For the peckish patron,
there is a menu, specialising in modern English pub food. A ghost is
rumoured to haunt the kitchens, but that doesn't seem to spoil the food.
For more refined tastes, the bar also had a fridge full of cows' blood;
cold, but handy for those post-frenzy munchies. There are rooms available
for rent, two rooms upstairs, as well as 4 more in the building connected to
the main one. The rooms go for £25 U.K. per person per night, including full English Breakfast. |
What's This?
The Crossroad Inn is an In Character (IC) thread on a Usenet newsgroup for Whitewolf's Storyteller Role-Playing Games. A haven of (relative) safety in the World of Darkness, the Inn is a great place to take you favourite Storyteller character to drink, relax and meet some wonderful role-players.
Who are the characters?
You can find descriptions of the current patrons of the Inn here.
Where does it happen?
The rec.games.frp.storyteller newsgroup. Regular players in the IC threads there find the group is a great way to meet Storyteller players from around the world, without the inconvenience of scheduling IRC or the annoyance of poor Web-based posting systems.
What else is there?
At the moment there is one other IC thread running on the group. The Wolves' Glen Pub is a long-running thread and has a lot of traffic. The Crossroads Inn is a smaller, quieter thread.
How do I join in? It's best to read the group for a while to get the feel of the posting style. Then simply follow up a post in the 'Re: Crossroads Inn' thread and write an entrance for your character. Once you're inside, talk to the other characters and they should reply. You might like to read the brief guide to Playing in the Inn.
This page looks pretty cool...
Indeed it does. However, I didn't write it (which is why it's much better than my other RPG pages.) It was written by Peter Miller and Justine Rogers. I just messed around with their nice HTML afterwards. Justine runs the Wolves' Glen Pub web page, which includes the IC FAQ.
