The Fief of Manchester and LiverpoolM/L was created by the union of two separate fiefs in the mid-1970's. Before the union, Liverpool was ruled by a Brujah Prince. Manchester had long been a free city, with a large Brujah contingent and many anarchs. At the end of the last century, the size of Manchester made a Prince necessary. However, the Primogen remained Brujah controlled and the Princes of various clans had their powers limited to the minimun required to maintain the Masquerade. The united fief is ruled by the former Prince of Liverpool. However, the Primogens of the two cities have remained largely separate and oversee the day to day running of the two cities. Unsurprisingly, although by far the majority of the Kindred within the fief are more than happy with the current system, the Brujah are not entirely united over the running of the city and several factions have developed since the unification. These factions are mostly small however and tolerated by the Prince and Primogens as long as they don't cause too much trouble: The Northern LeagueThe aims of this group are passively supported by the majority of Brujah in the city, in the same way that most people support causes like Oxfam. The group want the fief of York to also become a Brujah controlled fief and for Liverpool/Manchester/Leeds/Bradford to join together in a federation of independant Northern fiefs, making them strong enough to reject all control from London. Until now, the idea of a Northern League has been mostly a debating point for Brujah rants. However, the recent developments in York have provided a real opportunity for the group to push it's aims. The Brujah Nation PartyThis is a small and radical subset of the group above who believe that the Northern Legue would still be too open to manipulation and exploitation by the Ventrue and Tremere. Their aim is to create a single fief, rather than a federation. All Ventrue and Tremere would be driven away or destroyed within this fief, along with any members of the other clans who tried to support or protect them. Only then will the Brujah Nation be free from their malign influence. Before the current events, this group was secretly in touch with the Brujah of Glasgow. If they continue the contact and are infiltrated by the Sabbat, they could become a major headache. Manchester Independance MovementThis tiny group of Manchester Brujah believes that the identity of the Manchester Kindred had been crushed by the larger fief of Liverpool since the union of the fiefs. As with most groups of this kind, they have a wealth of 'evidence' to support this claim, usually starting with the fact that it is the Prince of Liverpool who rules the fief. They cite numerous incidents where Manchester Kindred breaking the Masquerade have been dealt with more harshly than Liverpool Kindred. The majority of these claims are baseless but the group can put it's case very convincingly.Essentially, this is a bunch of crackpots who can be used for light entertainment at some point. However, the characters could end up looking very silly should they support the group without investigating their claims. |
