Branwell BronteBackgroundBranwell first came to the attention of the Kindred of York through his early attempts at poetry. Although these were notably unsuccessful, they attracted the interest of Marie, who found the moody and passionate young man enchanting. As 'Mrs. Robinson', she invited him to some of her mortal gatherings. Branwell was desperately in love with her and thought of nothing but ways of keeping her passion for himself. Her free manners and numerous other young male companions drove him to despair and he addressed a great deal of rather bad but very impassioned poetry to her. Marie had been pursued by ardent and despairing mortal lovers before and had acquired a high resistance to poems of any quality. Never the less, she found his fevered attentions amusing. She permitted him to seduce her and Branwell joined her little set of ghouls. Then, Lord Marcus met Branwell at one of Marie's parties. He conceived one of his great passions for the young man and set about trying to seduce him away from Marie. It might have remained nothing more than a brief obsession and would probably have passed, but for Marie. Seeing an opportunity to spite Marcus she petitioned the Council for permission to Embrace the young man. Although she didn't really mean to carry it through, she knew it would drive Marcus mad. In fact that's exactly what it did. Marcus waylaid Branwell as he was leaving Marie's house one night. Without explanation, he attacked, drained and Embraced him. The experience proved too traumatic for the already unbalanced young man. He reacted to Marcus with loathing and proved too difficult for even Marie to properly control. In the first few months of his unlife, he escaped from her control several times. He Embraced his two younger sisters, even travelling to Scarborough where Anne had been moved for her protection. Now, Branwell is more stable, although he is prove to sudden outbursts of rage, which can be very frightening. He has never forgiven Marcus for the horror of the Embrace and he blames him for the madness which drove him to take his sisters' lives. However, he has survived the decades, rather to the surprise of several of the Kindred in the fief. ClanToreador, generation 9th, age "", born, embraced 1848, by Lord Marcus.ImageDark and Brooding. Brown curly hair and a face which would probably be quite attractive if he frowned less. Branwell has very abrupt and startling mood swings. He can be loud and friendly one moment, than angry, sullen or wildly jealous the next. He is often very confrontational towards male Kindred, especially those he fears might attract Marie's attention.InfluenceLittle personal, but has some as the Childe of Lord Marcus and one of the older ancilla in the fief.Secrets-HabitatMarie's parties and very unsavoury drinking and gambling dens. Keeps numerous Havens around the less savoury parts of the fief where he can crash out when he needs to.Ultimate GoalGaining Marie's exclusive attention. To Branwell's mind, this involves getting rid of her Childer, especially the recently Embraced Damien, who he hates with a tremendous passion. He is less jealous of Eduard, who treats him with distant courtesy. If he ever realises that it is really Eduard who will always be first in Marie's eyes, he will switch his hatred from Damien to Eduard. Marie of course is well aware of this and is carefully fanning the flames so that she can enjoy her favourite sight of men fighting over her.Immediate GoalUndermining Marie's affections for whichever of her retinue is currently 'favourite'. This includes mortals and ghouls as well as Kindred. Branwell tries to be subtle, to avoid angering Marie but occasionally his passion gets the better of him.ResourcesNot much. He spends as much money as Marie cares to give him on gambling and beautiful mortal women, in a massively unsuccessful attempt to make Marie jealous. |
