Simple JennyBackgroundNo-one in the fief really knows where Simple Jenny came from, because she can't or won't tell anyone. Only Thorolf and Sean have ever managed to get her to really talk to them and even they find her story confusing. What is known about her is that she arrived in the fief at the same time as the navvies who built the trans-Pennine railway. It is therefore commonly believed that she came from Ireland, although it is impossible to be sure from her accent. Jenny has told both Thorolf and Sean that she was once very beautiful, the prettiest girl in her village. Although she wasn't clever, all the boys admired her and everyone was kind and looked after her. Then, one night, she met a stranger on the outskirts of the village while she was looking for her mother's lost cow. At this point, versions of her story diverge. In some accounts, she is attacked or abducted by the stranger, Embraced and then abandonned in the fields to survive on her own. In these stories she becomes 'ugly' almost at once and is driven away from her home village with stones and curses. In other accounts, the stranger is kind and handsome and takes her away from the village to live in his castle. There she stays from some time as his lover, sharing his bed and being treated 'like a fairy princess'. Eventually, her lover Embraces her. In some versions she is thrown out when she 'gets ugly', after an indeterminate length of time. In others, she is frightened by her Embrace and runs away. She then gets lost and can't find her way back to the castle. Jenny spends most of her time in the countryside, rarely coming into areas of human habitation. She often wanders around the territory of the White Scar Sept, where she is well known. Although she doesn't speak to the Werewolves much, they seem to consider her under the protection of the spirits of the Caerns there. In fact, she often earthmelds at the Pen-y-Ghent Caern, to the consternation of some of the Garou. When she encounters strangers she keeps her head down and mumbles through her thick curtain of hair. Her face has become extremely bestial. Her nose and mouth have lengthened to form a short muzzle and her eyes are slanted and bright red. Because of her mouth, she finds it very difficult to speak and rarely does so. She finds the reaction of mortals to her deformities a distressing reminder of her former beauty. It is often after she is seen by humans, especially attractive young men, that she goes on her rampages.Ultimate GoalMore than anything, Jenny wants to be beautiful and normal again.
