ThorolfRather unusually for a kindred of such power, Thorolf has one name and one name only. Everyone calls him "Thorolf" whatever their rank and status.BackgroundWhen Thorolf came out of torpor in 1712, he had no memory of who or what he was. Buried in a peat bog on the Pennines, his sleep was disturbed by peat diggers. He was found by a Children of Gaia pack as he wandered the hills in wolf form. After a while he recovered enough of his memory to speak and use his powers but even today he cannot remember any of his life before he came out of torpor. The pack gave him shelter despite his Vampiric nature. Thorolf visited the growing northern cities relatively little over the next decades. Of the two nearby fiefs, he much preferred York, where the Prince made him welcome. Thorolf's quiet life was upset by the conflict which started between fief and Garou over the trans-Pennine canals. He found himself for the first time in many years being watched carefully by his werewolf friends. Resolving to prevent a full scale war developing, he visited de Lascy and offered to help negotiate a treaty with the Garou. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in the fief. It is by his efforts that problems arising between Kindred and Garou are smoothed over and he has ensured that the Fief has kept it's part of the treaties with the packs. There is nothing more important to Thorolf than the treaty. He is convinced that if a war started between the Garou and the Kindred then he would be rejected by his Sept. Thorolf doesn't really feel like a vampire. He sees himself as a wolf trapped in a different form and he wishes for nothing more than to live in peace with his pack. In reality, Thorolf is mistaken. The sept is totally loyal to him. This doesn't mean that other tribes would trust him but he will always be accepted by some Garou. Thorolf is extremely honourable and very humane. He believes that all creatures should be treated with kindness. There is no place for cruelty in Thorolf's world. He believes absolutely in Gaia and the Triat and he will fight hard to protect the innocent from the depredations of the Wyrm. Remember that Thorolf is a wolf at heart. He does not perceive hunting or culling as cruel actions. Thorolf will not involve himself in Kindred politics except to protect peace in the Fief, to prevent severe cruelty or to back up one of his few real friends. Just like Garou, Thorolf gives unquestionning loyalty to his close friends. As a result of this role, Thorolf has continued to spend a great deal of time with the various packs and septs. His Protean is excellent and he is an 'honorary wolf' in the Three Stones Children of Gaia Pack in the Pennines. He has taken an Auspice and Tribe and has even learned some Gifts. He is of high status with the Children of Gaia (rank 4). While this makes him a more effective liason between the Fief and the septs, some of the Kindred of York disapprove of his wild, 'uncilvilised' activities and even question his loyalties, although never to his face. Even more so than most Gangrel, he is subtly excluded from the refined society of the other elders. Ironically, this has pushed him closer to the Garou. Despite this degree of mistrust, he is a member of the Council and has been so since it's foundation. Although he finds Kindred politics tiresome, his place in the Council is invaluable to him in ensuring the treaty is maintained. Thorolf is a serious, stern faced man. He is very reserved in the presence of other Kindred but appears much more relaxed when he is surrounded by Garou and his friends. Lies do not come easily to Thorolf. He would rather say nothing at all than deliberately mislead others. When dealing with those of lesser status, Thorolf is scrupulously fair. He never pre-judges an issue or acts without evidence. Thorolf does expect respect from his juniors (ie everyone else!) He doesn't do this in an arrogant fashion but with the natural authority and majesty of one who has absolute confidence in his own powers. Fortunately for him, he favours the wolf. His eyes are slightly slanted and very green and reflect red at night. Perhaps the most obvious abnormality is his fingernails, which are permenantly extended claws. His hair is long and thick and covers most of his body except his face. He keeps it tied back in a ponytail and it is not too obvious unless he undresses. For this reason, his clothing usually covers most of his body. He favours jeans and leather, including suade shirts. If he is travelling amongst humans, he usually wears gloves and glasses.InfluenceLots, amongst both werewolves and kindred. He is possibly less trusted amongst the vampires, who are naturally more suspicious.Secrets-HabitatThorolf prefers to live in the countryside, with his pack. When he must live in the fief, he lives on the outskirts in a semi-derelict farm which he has owned for the last couple of hundred years.Ultimate GoalMaintaining his double life as Kindred and Garou through the Treaty.Immediate GoalStabilty of the council and fief.Sorting out the aftermath of the Sabbat attack.
