Zena SkinnerBackgroundBefore her Embrace, Zena was a university post-doc, working on the ecology of commercially planted pine forests. It was whilst radio-tracking pine martins through a Scottish forest that she was Embraced. In common with many Gangrel, she doesn't know who her Sire is and doesn't especially care. Although she had to abandon her old university post after her Embrace, she continued to research and write. Thorolf has manged to get her a research associate post at the unversity of Leeds. She has even has papers published in several scientific journals. Recently however, she has begun to feel that the academic approach to the preservation of endangered ecosystems is not really effective, probably as a result of her contact with the Garou. Even before she arrived in the fief, she had become more actively involved in conservation, leaning increasing towards eco-terrorism. She is actively involved in local ecology groups, for whom she does a great deal of research. She is a great fan of the Garou, although she doesn't have any really deep understanding of them. She is prone to talking about their 'magnificent wildness' and the wonderful way in which they live in harmony with their environment. As well as her more mundane scientific projects, Zena has one or two more 'specialist' interests. At the moment, she is working on a study of the 'ecology' of Kindred and their effect on human populations. Zena is collecting info about Kindred feeding habits for her studies of the predator/prey relationships between Kindred and Kine. This primarily concentrates on the junior kindred of the fief who are less likely to detect her. However, she is frustrated by the scarcity of material on Kindred history and by the disdain of the more literary clans for a Gangrel who _writes_. The only Kindred who seems willing to help her is Rudolf Schumann. He has managed to locate most of the historical texts she does have. Schumann has displayed quite some interest in her project, especially her data on feeding habits and current Kindred populations in British fiefs. She and her childe came to the fief quite recently after they were driven out of the south for their part in the anti-roads protests, which enraged Lady Anne and the other Ventrue. She is considering if it would be possible to set up some kind of monitoring of hunting/feeding patterns amongst the Kindred and their effect on 'prey' behaviour. However, she realises that the solitary and suspicious nature of the Kindred will make this diffucult.
