The Fief of YorkIntroductionThe Fief of York is a role-playing setting suitable for White Wolf's Vampire and related games. If this means nothing to you and you find this stuff interesting, it's time you found out more about Role Playing Games! The Fief of York (York for short) is a Camarilla stronghold in the north of England. The year is 1997 and disaster has recently befallen the elder vampires in the fief. These pages consist of an index to the kindred of the Fief surrounded with supporting material. Reading about the kindred will expose their secrets to you. It is these secrets that drive the kindred and their relationships with one another. Warning! If you are playing a game in the Fief or wish to play in the future beware! Reading this stuff will remove any sense of mystery and excitement from your game. It's not worth destroying your long term enjoyment of the game just to find out who Sir Nicholas really is. DisclaimerThe Kindred of YorkAt any one time, each individual inhabitant of the Fief considers themselves to belong to one or other power blocks. Some of these groups are implicit rather than real. You won't find any membership cards in Anne Cartwright's wardrobe. (... just what are you doing in her wardrobe?) The Who's Who is a full, alphabetical list of the kindred of York and their associates. York by NightHere can be found an overview of the Clans in York, the Council which governs the fief, some of the secrets of Elysium, and a taste of the intrigues unfolding there.
Tales of the UnexpectedThe other way to find out who's who in the Fief is to go to one of the Marquise's balls and listen to the stories people tell. You won't hear many of these accounts unless you find yourself in very select company indeed.
Other Inhabitants of the AreaThe Camarilla kindred are not the only inhabitants of interest in and around York. Pray that you don't meet any of this lot unless your are with Thorolf.
Britain in the World of DarknessThe Fief of York is not set in the standard White Wolf version of Britain. We've customised it somewhat. The following fiefs have been detailed to some degree.
A Southerner's Guide to YorkshireFor those of you who are not Yorkshire through and through, we've kindly supplied a guide to the Leeds/Bradford conurbation, the Dales and the towns of Yorkshire. If you are a foreigner, don't worry. Speak kindly but bluntly to the locals, avoid mentioning Lancashire or London and you'll do just fine. If you're not only from the South of England but actually from a different country then act gormless, spend lots of money and give the impression that you'll be leaving Yorkshire any day soon. With luck you'll never see a burning torch or hear the rumble of an angry mob!
